We bring clean, purpose-driven food brands from Australia and New Zealand to the GCC, connecting a community that believes food should be as honest as it looks.
We look for products with straightforward ingredient lists and a clear purpose for every ingredient. As part of our selection process, we currently exclude products containing a defined list of ingredients that don’t fit the Wellful portfolio. This is our product-selection policy, not a claim that every ingredient we exclude is unsafe or unsuitable in every application.
What’s in it? How was it made? Does it live up to the front of the packet? Would we give it to our kids?
Our filter, not a verdict.

Our mission
What Wellful is really trying to change.
Today:
Good products exist→but they’re fragmented.
Good information exists→but it’s noisy.
Consumers care→but they’re overwhelmed.
Brands have substance→but struggle to cross markets.
Wellful sits in the middle and says:
Let’s make the better choice easier to access and easier to trust.
We aren’t simply exporting ANZ brands to the GCC.
We’re creating a bridge between markets, brands, retailers and consumers, with education as the mechanism that makes that bridge work, rooted in community, purpose and impact.
Once I had children, I started paying much closer attention to what was actually in the food I was buying. Living between New Zealand and the Gulf made the difference hard to ignore.
Why is buying a packet of kids' snacks so complicated?
The front of the packet is full of claims. The ingredient list on the back usually tells you more.
We read that list, and ask how the product was made, before we take a brand on. That way the checking happens before a product reaches the shelf, not in the aisle with a tired child in the trolley.
Our story
It started with a baby on my chest.
For years I’ve worked on the Gulf market while living in New Zealand, so I’ve spent a lot of time going between supermarkets in both places. Somewhere in the middle of all that, we had kids.
The flights and the meetings carried on, only now with a baby strapped to my front. I started paying much closer attention to what was actually in the food I was buying, and living between New Zealand and the Gulf made the difference particularly noticeable.
I was feeding the same child in two countries, and it didn’t feel the same. In New Zealand I could usually pick something up and know what I was getting. In the Gulf there were more claims on the front of the pack, and it was harder to tell what was behind them. I’d stand in the aisle reading the back of a packet, trying to work out whether it was genuinely good or just well marketed, usually short on time and sleep.
Both places had plenty of choice. In one of them, I could mostly stop checking.
That’s why we started Wellful. We look for New Zealand and Australian brands with simple ingredient lists and something real behind the label, and we do the work to bring them to shelves across all six GCC countries.
Our family, and the two very good reasons we care what’s in the packet.
Who you’ll deal with.
You deal directly with the people responsible for the brands we represent, from the first conversation through launch and replenishment.
Co-founder. Brand, partnerships, and the final say on what gets in.
Grew up in the Gulf, built a thirteen-year career in brand, then moved to New Zealand and became absorbed in what was in the food we were buying. Runs Wellful's brand selection, partnerships and marketing.
Co-founder. Commercial, operations, and getting it onto the shelf.
Years in commercial roles across the Gulf and New Zealand. The person making sure a good idea makes it from a producer in Australia or New Zealand onto a shelf in the Gulf.
Where we work
Based in the UAE. Exclusive across all six GCC markets.
Founded in New Zealand and operating from the UAE, Wellful is the exclusive distribution partner for its brands across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman. One partner, one strategy, six markets.
Working with us.
We stay lean and work with specialist local partners across compliance, logistics, warehousing and delivery. We coordinate them, and you deal with us.
What you get

Import, customs, warehousing and delivery to store through our UAE logistics partners
Retail listings across the GCC

Clear reporting and straight answers on what to change
What we ask
Gulf exclusivity. We typically look for exclusive distribution rights across agreed Gulf markets so we can invest properly in building the brand. The exact scope is set in each distribution agreement.
A product that fits our filter. Straightforward ingredients with a clear purpose, and none of the ingredients on our current product-selection exclusion list
A long view. We build one market well before the next
A growing market with room for better brands.
87%of UAE grocery retail was modern trade in 2023
44%of high-income MENA consumers surveyed intended to trade up to higher-quality food in 2024

Walk down any snack aisle and everything's shouting a benefit. High protein. No nasties. Gut-friendly. Immunity-boosting. Somewhere along the way, packaging stopped describing food and started making promises.
Here's the catch: those words don't always tell you much. "Natural" can sound reassuring, but the word alone doesn't tell you much about what's actually inside a product. "High protein" can sit happily on something that's also high in sugar. The claim on the front is marketing. The truth is on the back, in the bit nobody has time to read.
Shoppers have clocked it. Clean labels used to be a point of difference. Now they're the baseline, not the reason to buy. People want to know: is this real, would I feed it to my kid, and does it do what it says?
And the demand is real. In McKinsey's State of Grocery Retail 2024 research, 44% of high-income MENA consumers surveyed said they intended to trade up to higher-quality food in 2024.
Which is why a loud front-of-pack doesn't move us. We turn the packet over and look at the full ingredient list, the order the ingredients appear in, how much of the hero ingredient is actually there, and whether the claims on the front hold up. If they don't, the product doesn't make the Wellful range.

The Label
We read the ingredient list so you don't have to.
A quick game. Pick up a "healthy" snack and read the ingredients out loud. If you run out of breath, or hit three things you can't pronounce, you've found the catch.
This started for us with a carton of almond milk. Five stars, gorgeous packaging, under 2.5% almonds. The rest was water, oils and additives doing the heavy lifting the almonds were getting credit for. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.
Reading a label well isn't hard, it's just tedious. A few shortcuts we use:
Shorter is usually better. Real food doesn't need twenty ingredients.
Order matters. Ingredients are listed by weight, so if sugar's near the top, there's a lot of it.
"Natural flavour" is still a flavour someone added. It's not the same as the actual fruit.
Watch the hero. If a product is named after almonds, berries or veg, check how much is in there.
This is the whole job at Wellful. We do the tedious bit, brand by brand, so the thing that reaches you has already passed the test. And in the Gulf, where a lot of stock is imported and labels vary, that legwork matters even more.
Would we buy it ourselves? If not, you won't see it here.
The Gulf
What has to be true before a brand reaches the Gulf.
Getting onto a shelf takes work. Earning a lasting place there takes more.
Before we take on a brand, it has to clear two bars. The first is ours: real ingredients, an honest story, a product people want to buy again. The second is the region's, and it's less romantic.
The GCC isn't one market. It's six countries, each with its own import rules, retail dynamics and shoppers. Halal compliance, product registration, Arabic labelling, shelf-life rules, health-claim restrictions: any one of them can quietly sink a launch that looked fine on paper. A single regional plan rarely survives all six.
The upside is that the route to shoppers is well organised. In 2023, 87% of UAE grocery retail was modern trade, and in 2024, 44% of high-income MENA consumers surveyed intended to trade up to higher-quality food. Parents are reading labels. The shelf just hasn't fully caught up.
So we operate from the UAE and build each GCC market properly rather than spreading thin. We coordinate specialist local partners for registration, documentation, logistics and warehousing, and we handle the retailer conversations ourselves. One brand at a time.
That's the filter. If a brand can't clear both bars, it waits, or it's a no. It's how the shelf stays worth trusting.

I didn’t set out to build a company.
I was just trying to feed my child.
I carried her through airports and meetings, a baby pressed against my chest, my whole world in a front pack. And in the middle of all that movement, something small became very heavy.
Food.
Something as simple as choosing a snack was mentally exhausting. Every label needed decoding. Every “healthy” claim came with doubt. Every rushed choice felt like a compromise I didn’t want to make for the tiny human depending on me.
Then I’d return to New Zealand.
And suddenly, feeding my family felt easier. Calmer. More honest. Ingredients were simpler. Sourcing was clearer. The products felt made with care, not just clever marketing.
That contrast stayed with me.
Why should nourishing our families feel grounding in one place and overwhelming in another?
That question became The Wellful Company.
Not as a business idea, but as a response. A belief that nourishment should support real life and that the wholesome goodness Australia and New Zealand are known for deserves a place in everyday homes across the GCC.
NaturKidz Snacks is a New Zealand brand founded by fellow mum Bonnie Slade, using nourishing ingredients with intention.
And if you live in the GCC, this isn’t just about products. It’s about building a community around trust, transparency, and food you can feel good about feeding your family.
Wellful was built between two homes, and we owe something to both. Our community initiatives will bring together families, growers, schools and local partners across New Zealand, Australia and the GCC, with real work on the ground and a share of what we build going back into it.
The first initiatives are taking shape now. We’re not interested in doing it for the photo. We want to leave every community we touch a little better than we found it.
